With the Lexogen Research Award we wished to provide a chance for researchers to utilize more Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for RNA research. We have asked scientists from all around the world to submit a description of the project where they would use NGS and Lexogen’s QuantSeq Library Prep before May 8, 2016.
The topic of this Research Award was “Expression Profiling by Sequencing”. NGS is now rapidly substituting all other technologies for gene expression analysis. However, using standard RNA-Seq approaches, where the whole transcriptome is sequenced, for gene expression analysis is not efficient in terms of cost, time and quality.
Lexogen has developed the QuantSeq RNA-Seq Library Prep Kit which utilizes Lexogen’s unique approach for expression profiling by sequencing the 3’ ends or any targeted regions of transcripts. Learn more about QuantSeq.
We believe that expression profiling is one of the fields that can benefit from NGS the most, particularly when the QuantSeq approach is used.
The selection of 3 winners was done by independent referees and announced on May 18, 2016.
The winners:
- Daniel Schoenberg, Ohio State University, the USA
- Iris Tanaka, Institut Curie, Orsay, France
- Sven Bervoets, VIB Department of Molecular Genetics, University of Antwerp, Belgium
All the winners will be given a free QuantSeq kit with 96 preps together with a sequencing run on Illumina HiSeq with 100bp single reads.
